Italian Day Dress by silverstah Italian Day Dress by silverstah
Basic Italian style dress. Side lacing, done in red cotton twill. Not 100% historically accurate, but comfy and great for Renaissance Faire or working in the kitchen at SCA. ;) Worn with a black linen skirt and a white cotton gauze chemise, trimmed in black edging.

Where could I get a dress almost exactly like this one? I mean like in this same style similar to a jumper that is worn over a white gown?

I love this dress! I'm just wondering, how did you do the pleating on the skirt? I'm planning to make my own dress for the upcoming faire.

That's called "cartridge pleating". This is a pretty good tutorial: [link]

Very cool! It's a gorgeous color.

I made one of an almost identical design years ago- though mine's from a navy blue cotton and light blue poly blend (much, much less accurate). It has become my loaner dress over the years since it's comfy, side lacing allows for a good range of sizes, and it's machine washable.

Oh, what do you mean by SCA? Is it another renaissance thing?

The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more.
